		<description>Hi! Daan,
I believe parents should keep parental control of their children. Many government bodies are not married and have had no children to experience the raising of kids. I had eight children and each had their share of punishment (strap or hand) and their share of rewards. My eldest is 56 years old, my youngest is 40 years old and they have all grown into respectable humans with their own grown-up children who are great kids. My youngest child is a good father ... his wife a good mum (7 children) but, because of discipline from both parents, the child in question, not liking being told to obey the rules of the house (being as young as 7 years old at the time), gave them much unnecessary problems with the government body interfering. To my mind, if he had been given a few good hidings but disagreed by the law, he would have grown up different. This child (now 17 years old) has turned out okay but still has a chip on his shoulders.
There is a difference of punishing the child to show him right from wrong and flogging him, which would be definitely abuse of the child.
If parents were given back their parental rights there would be less crime among the young people.
